Murna Foundation Organizes Peace Rally on Women, Peace, and Security in Katsina
The Murna Foundation held its annual Peace Rally today, focusing on the critical role of women in peace and security efforts. Participants, holding placards emblazoned with powerful messages, marched through Dandagoro town to raise awareness about gender equality, Women inclusion, Campaign Against Gender-based violence, and the importance of women's participation in advocacy.
Katsina Post learnt that the rally included visits to key stakeholders, including the traditional ruler, the local security head, and representatives from the Dandagoro Town Healthcare Center.
Each visit aimed to emphasize the significant contributions women make in fostering peace and the necessity of integrating their voices into community safety and healthcare initiatives.
The rally underscored several key recommendations aimed at improving women's roles in society:
1. Enhancing Women's Education: The Foundation urged community leaders to raise awareness about the importance of women's educational opportunities, addressing the current shortages in resources and access.
2. Reducing Marital Divorce Rates: Implementing targeted interventions to support families and decrease the incidence of divorce was identified as a priority.
3. Combating Child Forceful: The rally highlighted the urgent need to reduce incidents of child forceful, particularly among daughters, advocating for stronger protections against such practices.
4. Enhancing Healthcare Services: Participants called for improvements in the local healthcare center, including the hiring of specialist doctors and increasing the number of health educators to better serve the community's needs.
5. Promoting Gender Inclusion in Security: The Foundation recommended integrating women into police initiatives and strengthening the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to ensure women's active participation in community safety efforts.
The event concluded with a pledge from local leaders to prioritize these recommendations, reinforcing the community's commitment to peace and security through the empowerment of women.
The CEO Murna Foundation, Hajiya Aisha Ahmed said the Murna Foundation aims to continue this dialogue and work collaboratively with stakeholders to implement necessary changes in Dandagoro and beyond.
