The Chief Judge of Katsina State, Justice (Dr) Musa Danladi Abubakar (NPOM), has granted bail to 126 inmates, released 1 and sentenced 3 others to Community Service in the state.

In his remarks after the exercise, Justice MD Abubakar said that he embarked on the jail delivery to Correctional centres across the state with a view of decongesting them and looking forward to other alternative measures to imprisonment.

Justice MD Abubakar commended the hardwork and dedication of officers and men of the Nigerian Correctional Service Katsina command, and urged them to keep up the good work. He added that the command is among the best in Nigeria in terms of service delivery.

Recall that a similar commendation was given by Justice Abubakar to four officers of the command who served with the mobile Courts during the climax of Covid-19 pandemic in the state.

The categories of Inmates that benefited were the aged, those with serious health challenges and those who displayed good character and Industry while in custody.

In his remarks, the Controller of Corrections Katsina State Command, Muhammad Abdulmumin Haruna, commended the Chief Judge for the exercise, saying that decongesting the custodial facilities would enable the Service perform its statutory duties of reforming, rehabilitating and reintegrating the inmates back to the society as law abiding citizens.
