“I Am Alive" online confirmation of PTAD pensioners nationwide PTAD sensitize pensioners on newly introduced “I Am Alive" service The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) carried out a sensitization exercise of its ongoing “I AM AlIVE" online confirmation of pensioners under the Defined Benefits Scheme to retired workers in security sector, in an effort to identify pensioners that are alive for their prompt payment. The sensitization program took place on Monday, September 19, 2023, at the premises of the police compound at GRA in Katsina Metropolis. Speaking at the event, the leader of the exercise, Hajiya Bilkisu Rimi, said that the "I am Alive" program, which is being carried out, aims to determine the pensioners of the federal government who are alive by verifying themselves using the online program launched by the Directorate. Apart from that, she noted that the scheme was introduced looking at the current situation in the country to ease the untold hardship experienced by the retired workers in trying to get verified. She noted that the new introduced program would enable the pensioners to verify themselves using smart phone or computer laptop. According to her, in order to ensure prompt payment of pension to retired workers, it launched the scheme for the retired workers to verify themselves every six months. In his remark, Dr. Abubakar Dan Musa from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) said the cardinal objectives of the agency is to ensure the provision of health care delivery at subsidized rate. He noted that the NHIS would use the information gotten from PTAD to include retired workers in to the scheme, while calling on people to register with the agency to benefits with the agency. In another development, the leaders of the Directorate has paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Katsina Dr. Abdulmuminu Kabir Usman and other traditional monarchs to continue to sensitize the pensioners on how to make good use of the opportunity introduced by PTAD. In a remark the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmuminu Kabir Usman, expressed his happiness over the introduction of the new scheme to ease the difficulty experience by the pensioners. The royal Father noted that the online confirmation of pensioners will ease the difficulties experienced by the retired workers for their payments. The Emir, added it will significantly impact on the lives of pensioners, who spent years contributing to the development of the nation. He called on them to live above board in discharging their assigned their responsibilities.

MSI Nigeria launches Reproductive Health and Pandemic Resilience Project (RHPR) in Katsina State In an effort to address the challenges faced by women and girls in accessing reproductive health services and reduction of maternal health, MSI Nigeria has launched the Reproductive Health and Pandemic Resilience Project (RHPR) in Katsina State. Katsina Post learnt that the project is aimed to expand the availability, access, acceptability, and quality of integrated health services in Katsina state- which will ensure that essential reproductive health services are available and accessible to all, even in the face of a global health crisis. While speaking during the event, the country Director MSI Nigeria, Mr. Emmanuel Ajah said the RHPR project is a collaborative effort between Government of Germany to Nigeria through KFW Development Bank, the federal Ministry of Health and ministry of finance, and other key stakeholders. He said the RHPR project seeks to strengthen the resilience of the healthcare system in Katsina State, particularly in the area of reproductive health, by providing support and resources to healthcare facilities and service providers. He added that the objectives of the project is to ensure that women and girls have continued access to family planning services, menstrual health, prevention of cervical cancer, and sexual and gender-based violence. The wife of the state governor, Hajiya Zulaihat Dikko while inaugurating the project pledged her support for the successful implementation of the project in the state. Hajiya Zulaihat, represented by Honourable Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa reiterated her commitment to promoting women's health and well-being, also emphasized the importance of ensuring access to quality reproductive health services for women and girls in the state. She called on stakeholders, including traditional and religious leaders, civil society organizations, and the media, to support the project's objectives. She stressed the importance of collective efforts in achieving sustainable improvements in reproductive health outcomes and resilience. During the meeting, Mr. Leonard Viashima who is the Project Manager discussed various aspects of the project, including overview, its goals, objectives, and implementation strategies. He deliberated on potential challenges and opportunities that may arise during the project's execution. The inception meeting held at Alhujrat Hotel provided a platform for stakeholders to share their expertise, experiences, and recommendations to ensure the success of the RHPR project. Katsina State indigene becomes the youngest Law Professor ever in Nigeria. Aisha Sani Maikudi is from Katsina State, Nigeria. She was born in Zaria, on the 31st January 1983. She received her WASSCE from Queens College, Lagos, her  LLB degree from the University of Reading, UK, the LLM from the London School of Economics, UK, BL from the Nigeria Law School, Abuja and Ph.D from the University of Abuja, Nigeria. In 2007, Aisha did her National Youth Service Corps at the Corporate Secretariat and Legal Division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. In 2008, she joined the University of Abuja as a Lecturer 2 and became the first female and youngest Head of Department, Faculty of Law in 2014; first female and youngest Vice Dean, Faculty of Law in 2018 and the pioneer Director, University of Abuja International Centre in 2019. In 2021, Aisha became a Professor of International Law. To date, she is the youngest Professor of the University of Abuja and indeed Nigeria, as well as the first female Professor of Law  in the North West and the University of Abuja.
