Katsina gov't, Akwa Ibom indigenes debunk story on alleged evacuation of members from Katsina The Association of Akwa Ibom State indigenes residents in Katsina have described as false alarm, the claim by some Akwa Ibom indigenes that they were trapped by the security crises in the state. Addressing a press conference in Katsina, the association's Chairman, Ubong Patrick described the action of the evacuees as an attempt to extort money from their state government by exaggerating the security situation in Katsina State. Also addressing newsmen, Secretary of the association, Dr. Aniefor Francis expressed worry over the failure of the Akwa Ibom State government to verify the claim from police or state government officials before proceeding to evacuate the persons that made the claim. While urging the Akwa Ibom and Katsina state governments to discuss the matter at inter-governmental level, Dr. Francis Also addressing newsmen on the issue, the Special Adviser to Katsina State governor on Security Matters, Ibrahim Katsina, pointed out that there was not such thing as an IDP camp for non-indigenes in the state. Also speaking during the press conference, the Acting DG Media at the Governor's office, Malam Isa Ahmed officials noted that all non-indigenes in the state were safe and going about their activities without hitch.
