Katsina Girls Demand Full Implementation of Child Protection Law
The Coordinator of the Girls Led Movement in Katsina, GLMB, Saudat Aƙilu has urged for the full implementation of the Child Protection Law to safeguard the rights and futures of girls in the region.
Speaking at a press briefing commemorating the International Day of the Girl Child, with a theme, "Girls' Vision for the Future," Akilu emphasized the boundless potential of girls and the importance of empowering them to become leaders and changemakers.
"With support and empowerment, we can create a brighter future where every girl can dream without limits and pursue her passions," she asserted.
The event supported by Save The Children International featured the presentation of the Girls’ Declaration, which articulates the hopes, dreams, and challenges faced by young girls.
This declaration serves as a call to action for stakeholders to support the girls' vision for their future. "Empowering girls is empowering humanity to achieve greatness," Akilu stated, highlighting the need to remove barriers that hinder girls’ progress.
She expressed gratitude to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Girl Child Education, Jamila Abdu Mani for providing a platform for girls to voice their concerns and aspirations.
Akilu also thanked Save the Children for their ongoing support in creating opportunities for girls to participate in meaningful change.
She reiterated the urgent need for the implementation of the Child Protection Law, urging the community and authorities to listen to the girls' voices, celebrate their achievements, and address the challenges they face.
Hajiya Jamila Abdu Mani, Special Adviser to Governor Mallam Dikko Umar Radda on Girl Child Education, reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to enhancing girls’ education and rights in Katsina State.
The Special Adviser assured the girls that their future is a top priority for the administration and wished them an inspiring celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child.
She asserted, pledging that every measure is being taken to ensure equal opportunities for girls in Katsina State.
